MAGNESIUM THERAPY

EPIROS WELLNESS

FLOAT /MAGNESIUM THERAPY

THINK OF IT AS A RESET BUTTON WITH THREE LEVELS:

  • Epsom Salts are great for your skin, hair, nails, and act as an exfoliate. They aid in joint pain, ease stress, and naturally relax the body. More than 1,200 pounds of Epsom Salts help prevent inflammation in your joints / muscles, and treat sprains, strains and sore muscles.

  • More than 1200 pounds of salt in 180 gallons of water creates more than 30% salt solution, enabling you to float effortlessly atop the water. This creates a deeply relaxing, anti-gravity environment. As all weight and tension dissolves away, it’s even safe to fall asleep. There are no pressure points on the body in this state, which can provide up to 100% pain relief. The spine naturally elongates and straightens, and the body undergoes the same regeneration process that transpires during sleep.

  • An hour of zero gravity and zero distractions will decrease the production of cortisol, a stress hormone, leaving us feeling refreshed and serene after the float. The brain enters the delta brain-wave state, associated with deep sleep and dreaming. As all external sources of distraction are removed, floating provides an extreme form of rest. The water, kept at skin temperature, feels like floating on a cloud or in outer space.

Benefits of Floating

  • There are a number of benefits that come from three elements of flotation therapy:

  • Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate)

  • Weightlessness / Counter-Gravity Stimulation

  • Meditation / Theta-State

Physical Benefits

  • The near-weightless environment of floating allows for the muscles and joints of the body to relax, increasing blood flow and helping to more quickly repair muscle tissues and heal the body. This is especially beneficial for those with injuries or chronic pain.

  • The floatation tank environment has been shown to expedite the healing of broken bones and sprained joints, sometimes healing twice as fast as without floatation therapy.

  • The low-impact environment gives your body time to rest and recuperate, and gives your immune system the opportunity to shift into a higher gear, strengthening your body’s immune response.

  • Bodies physically rest and recover more quickly in a floatation tank, up to four times faster, in fact. This means that you can train yourself harder and reap the benefits of slower recovery times with the use of a float tank. Water in the float tank has the added benefit of being saturated with Epsom salts, which have well-established healing effects, helping to draw out toxins and lactic acid from work outs, speeding up recovery time .

  • Floatation tanks and floatation therapy have seen success easing more chronic pains such as neck and back pain, and help with spinal misalignment issues. Float tanks have even been shown to ease the pain from such conditions as arthritis and fibromyalgia, conditions with few natural treatment options.

Mental Benefits

  • The lack of external stimuli is extremely rare in modern society. In the floatation environment, without the hustle and bustle of the world imposing itself, people experience a profound calmness of mind. This respite from the world allows for stress management, offers the psychological benefits of a feeling of inner peace, and is a perfect complement to many alternative well-ness regimens.

  • Sensory deprivation allows the mind to enter into the theta state, a somewhat dreamlike state that most people only experience when on the cusp of sleep or right after waking in the morning. These lower frequency brain waves, primarily generated by the right hemisphere (the hemisphere associated with creative, non-linear thought), have been called “the state of inspiration”

  • Floatation tanks have seen much success as an aid to those with insomnia or other sleep disorders. The sensory deprivation allows the brain a natural calm-down period, aiding those who have trouble entering this period naturally. Floating can even be used to alleviate feelings of “jet-lag” caused by changes in time zones or reset sleep schedules for those needing to do so to maintain a healthy level of sleep, something many alternative medicine regimens attempt to cultivate.

  • Floating also offers a natural increase in dopamine and other neurotransmitters, which create feelings of euphoria and aid mental relaxation. This has both the subjective benefits of a feeling of well-being, and the mental benefits of a more balanced brain chemistry

What i should know about my Float season ?

  • There’s a lot of salt in our float spas. Thus, it is best to avoid wearing your “best clothes”. We recommend comfortable garments that are easy to change in and out of.

We provide spa sandals, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash blow dryers, lotions, q-tips, etc.

We encourage clients to float nude for the greatest experience—each room is private and features its own shower .Of course, feel free to bring a swimsuit if you prefer.

Those under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted to float.

  • Epiros Wellness complies with stringent health and safety regulations. The water in the Float Pod is likely the most pristine you have ever been in!

The water in each Float Pod is mostly salt—a solution which is inherently sterile. After each float, and anytime the Pod is not in use, our state of the art purification system purifies the water.

Between each session every Float Pod’s water is completely purified 4 times with a 5-micron filter and both Ozone and UV Light technology to purify and disinfect the water. We take keeping our water clean very seriously.

  • After showering you may enter your Float Pod which contains just 10 inches of water.

You may leave your Pod’s lid open, propped, or closed for your float. The lid is on hydraulic arms and opens easily when pushed.

Lie back gently; the buoyancy of the water will effortlessly support you.

Once your session has started you will have access to your control buttons—including your light and music. To enhance relaxation we offer 10 minutes of soothing music to start—and wrap up your session with 5 minutes of music

The float has ended once your Pod’s filtration system comes on and the water starts to move.

Refrain from touching your face while in the Float Pod to avoid getting salt into your eyes.  That being said, we provide squirt bottles of fresh water in each pod as a precaution!

Initially, pain or tension in the body may seem more noticeable. This is due to the float’s ability to eliminate the typical distractions we face. Simply breathe and know that this is normal. As the session progresses  sensations will dissipate.

  • EPIROS Wellness books floats in 60 and 90 minute increments.

  • We greatly encourage each client to try our freshly brewed herbal tea. We’d love if you shared your experience in our guest journal, too!

Flotation is a serious therapy; drink plenty of water after your session!

  • It SHOULD go without saying, but no bodily fluids in the tanks – no spitting, no mucus, please help us keep it all clean. (It’s $ 500 of Epsom salt if we have to drain a tank, and more than a day of cancelled appointments to dissolve and warm up new solution If bodily fluids are left behind, we will charge you a cleaning fee of up to $1,000, Please be respectful

  • Epiros tanks contain over 1000 lbs of epsom salt, so the water is denser than the Dead Sea. Don’t worry, you’ll definitely float. (Unless your bones have been replaced with adamantium – sorry, Wolverine.

  • The water is warm but not hot. We keep it as close as we can to skin temperature, 93.5°F. That allows you to float as long as you like without getting chilled or overheated, and it’s neutral for your skin temperature receptors so you won’t even really feel it’s there.

Some people come expecting the water to be hot like a bath or a jacuzzi, and it’s not. If you take a very hot shower before entering the tank, it can even feel cool. To ease your transition into the tank we suggest you try showering a little cooler than usual.

  • It depends!

People find that different times of the day produce different floats. You might go deeper late at night, or during mid-afternoon (“nap o’clock”), or if you want to stay a little more alert, you might avoid those times.

It’s good to explore different times to see what works best for you.

  • If you have recently had your hair dyed,

t’s important to make sure the dye has had time to set completely about a wk or there is a chance the float water could bleach it. (If it doesn’t come off when you dry with a towel, you’ll be okay in the tank.

We’d hate for you to damage expensive work, and we’d prefer you don’t dye our tanks.

We’ll be happy to help you reschedule if necessary, no problem.

Anyone getting keratin treatments to their hair should avoid saltwater, and that includes float tanks.

  • In many cases, yes, it’s fine for children to float.

Are they good at following directions, and are they old enough to keep from touching their face?

The most important thing is to make sure that they personally really want to, and that they understand that they are allowed to get out of their float whenever they like. We do not encourage reluctant kids to float.

We will allow clients aged fourteen years and up to float on their own recognizance.

Children aged nine years and up are allowed to float if a guardian is present in the center and prepared to attend to the child if they come out of their session early.

  • No. Please understand that we cannot and will not allow the illegal use of any substances in our facility.

We also cannot allow smoking indoors whether it’s legal or not. We will turn away any clients who disrespects our business or the comfort of other clients.

Lets be respectful to each other .Thank you

  • Many people have worries of one kind or another, but it’s very rarely a problem.

For one, the tank is actually much bigger on the inside than you might think, and you can sit up and move around easily.

If you want, you can also leave the door cracked or wide open with a light on — some people find that helpful.

The key to remember is you’re in total control of the experience.

  • Generally, contraindications include powerful sedatives, being prone to seizures (e.g. epilepsy), or schizophrenia.

Magnesium from the epsom salt can have interactions with certain antibiotics and muscle relaxants, and may be an issue if you have kidney problems.

People with low blood pressure should take extra care, especially when standing up after floating.

If any of these conditions apply to you, please consult your doctor before getting in a tank.

  • Pay attention at your own body how you feel ,after each float season with us .

  • Just as with yoga, mediation, or any new class it takes time to get the hang of it. You may feel a bit awkward at first but eventually, you’ll experience the full depth and benefits of floating. You’ll also learn what works best for you — the time of day, music & lighting options, etc.

We encourage you to commit to at least 3 float sessions to really open up to the mental, physical, and emotional value of floatation therapy.

Your 1st Float

New clients need to arrive 10 minutes before appointment time. Please respect the timing and try no to arrive late —this is to preserve the quietness and integrity of all our floats, which we start simultaneously.

Preparing for Your Float

  • Avoid shaving, tanning, waxing—or anything else that would increase the sensitivity of your skin.

  • We provide Vaseline in each Pod Suite to protect any small cuts and grazes from stinging!

  • Hair color needs to be “set” before coming in to float (your shower water is running completely clear). Please reschedule if it is not.

  • We encourage clients to avoid caffeine for at least 4 hours before floating for the most relaxing experience.

  • Females experiencing their menstrual cycle the day of their float MUST reschedule their appointments—thank you!

  • Because floating is so relaxing, if you come on an empty stomach, you may be distracted by stomach grumbles.

  • We recommend eating something small prior to your float, but allowing at least 30 minutes to digest before your appointment.
